So I chowned my server... Default owner help
Hi All
Its been a bad night to say the least. Fortunately, thanks to some exemplary work by my hosting provider I'm almost back on my feet but I have two remaining issues.
-Exim is having permission problems with its system filter (in my case /etc/antivirus.empty, Mailscanner is installed). Can someone please provide the default permissions and UID:GID?
-Second one is below
Dec 17 04:14:50 srv1 dccproc[12412]: open(/var/dcc/map): Permission denied
Dec 17 04:14:50 srv1 dccproc[12412]: lock_open(/var/dcc/whiteclnt.dccx): Permission denied; file not writeable for locking
Again, default UID:GID would be fantastic.
Thanks!

Hello :) Those are not standard files associated with a cPanel installation on CentOS/RHEL. What's the specific error message you are receiving in /var/log/exim_mainlog or /var/log/exim_paniclog? Thank you. 0 -
Hi Michael I've followed up with cPanel support and sorted out the first issue (turned out it was a problem with the exim binary permissions, not the filter file). For the second issue, the error is in /var/log/maillog: Dec 18 12:12:55 srv1 dccproc[22368]: open(/var/dcc/map): Permission denied Dec 18 12:12:55 srv1 dccproc[22368]: lock_open(/var/dcc/whiteclnt.dccx): Permission denied; file not writeable for locking Dec 18 12:13:01 srv1 dccproc[22371]: open(/var/dcc/map): Permission denied Dec 18 12:13:01 srv1 dccproc[22371]: lock_open(/var/dcc/whiteclnt.dccx): Permission denied; file not writeable for locking [COLOR="silver">- - - Updated - - - According to my research these files are part of SpamAssasin 0 -
What are the existing permissions/ownership values on those files? Thank you. 0 -
/var/dcc/ root:root 0755 /var/dcc/map root:bin 0600 The second file doesn't exist, I'm guessing its a lock file that is trying to be written and can't. All other files in the folder are root:bin with varying permissions On closer examination dccproc is set to root:bin so I'm going to try changing /var/dcc/ to root:bin as well 0 -
I've reinstalled DCC and it looks to be resolved. Thanks Michael! 0 -
