Freeing Up Disk Space on DNS Only

I've been running 2x cPanel DNS Only servers for a few years with no issues. However, recently they've started refusing to update to the latest cPanel version, stating a lack of disk space. They are each 10GB servers and have about 3GB free. My main query is what could have filled up these DNS only servers? As no user accounts are stored on them. And how should I clean them out in order to free up enough space to allow cPanel to update?

  Thanks Michael. So it seems that the minimum amount of free space required for cPanel to update has changed from 1.6GB to 3GB. I managed to resolve my issue by removing any large log files from /var/log and also rebooting the server cleared a chunk of space to help obtain 3GB free.
