Fallback server / load balancing

Hello, If i set up rsync to syncronise the /home/? folder to a different physical machine and setup nameservers: ns1 server 1 IP 1 ns2 server 1 IP 2 ns3 server 2 IP 1 ns4 server 2 IP 2 Would this be sufficient to keep websites and email running when server 1 goes down or do i need to sync more servers. Also, is there a way the cpanel license will switch over to the other server is server 1 is down longer then expected? I know there is a free version of cpanel aswell.. does this have the basic functions needed for mail and http so i could install that on server 2?

  Hello :) There's actually not a free version of cPanel. You might be thinking of cPanel DNS-Only, which is used for DNS clustering. cPanel currently supports clustering for DNS purposes only. There is support to host your databases on a remote MySQL server, however beyond that, there are no native options that allow for mirroring of your websites or automatic replacement of a network/IP address if the event another fails. I recommend searching our forums for "mirroring" and "high availability" for custom solutions that other users may have implemented. There are lots of discussions about the best ways to do this.
