Disk Space Usage Mail/ Folder - Can I compress this folder?
Hello,
Is it possible to compress a mail folder? On a clients site, the majority of website space is being eaten up just through the volume of mail they are getting.
How can I control this a bit better without any adverse effects and without having to increase their disk space continually.

No. How can I control this a bit better
Find out what all the mail is. Is it valid or spam? Whats the default address set to on the account?0 -
Sorry for the late reply, I finally have a chance to see what is going on. I had a look at the monthly bandwidth usage that seems to be linked with the mail folder. It appears that there's a lot of pop3 bandwidth usage happening. For this month alone, there was 5.99Gb. I've never dealt with an issue before, so I'm unsure of what a solution would bring down this pop3 usage. I have informed my client that all email accounts should only be setup as IMAP.... the fact that there's pop3 usage being recorded mean that someone is still using a pop3 setting for an email account? 0 -
Hello :) Do you have root access to this system? If so, the following thread includes some commands to grep /var/log/maillog for specific domain names and email accounts that you might find helpful: POP3 Bandwidth Usage This could help narrow down which specific email account is the culprit. Thank you. 0
