Is there a way to reset a cpanel account to "out of the box" state without deleting and recreating it?

  No. What problem is it that you're facing that you'd be looking for a way to do this?

  As Infopro suggested you should try to fix the settings that you think have jumbled up, else you can terminate the account re-create it again and then manually import your data, But this way certainly you will loose some data.
