Does each theme need a separate copy of plugin files and why isn't perl working here ?

In the case that we aren't concerned with different styles - we create a feature for our users in a generic style - can we publish these files into one theme and then symlink them to the other themes? i.e. maintain a single HTML page or perl script instead of multiple copies? If I visit the preinstalled sample at ..../frontend/x3/test.live.pl or test.live.cgi - I see the actual file contents - are we missing a scriptalias or some other config is wrong?

  ] The plugin docs say that CGI can be used for plugin interfaces. However, on my server, it does not work from this location - is it a bug or something is broken. I don't think I will find this specific answer in those general docs you pointed to.
