Hello :) Do you notice any error messages in the /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log file? Is this a VPS, and if so, is it possible an image of the server was restored from an old backup? Do you notice any filesystem errors in /var/log/messages? Thank you.

Had this happen to one account recently. I believe it is related to having httpd configured to allow some override. The web server then needs to check all accounts for presence of .htaccess. Even if there is no .htaccess in the account(s) in question, it still needs to read it and the permissions are off somewhere. Mod/Ownership of the public_html was 750 owner : owner The others which worked were all 750 owner:nobody
