Cpanel update failure during updatenow

Hi, I am a complete newbie with managing dedicated servers since we usually have shared hosting for our websites. I received the recent notification email (Cpanel update failure during updatenow) and read about the solution here: https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/RPM+Installation+Failures#RPMInstallationFailures-RPMconflict The only thing is, how do I remove the rogue RPM? Is this only possible via Shell? I tried to get shell access with root and it wouldn't let me.

  Hello :) You may need to consult with your data center or hosting provider for instructions on accessing SSH as root if you are unable to do so on your own. What error message do you receive when attempting to access your server via SSH? Thank you.
