Question on OS reload to reszie /usr partition
Hi,
we have a server on softlayer.com and constantly keep getting the problem that our /usr partition is too small.
Now we contacted softlayer.com and they said the only way to resize that partition would be an OS reload.
Now here are a few questions:
1. Do you know of any other (better) way to resize /usr
2. If we do this OS reload softlayer.com mentioned all data would be lost. How do we best go about to backup the data (whole server I guess, including the current cpanel/whm configuration) and once the reload is done add the backup again so everything works like before?
We of course would like to have as less dowtime as possible.
Thank you very much

An OS reload will take longer than you'd want, moving to a new server would be quicker.0 -
Hello :) The following post offers a workaround: Unable to update cPanel due to lack of space on /usr However, setting up a new server with the recommended partition setup (per our Installation documentation) and transferring your accounts to it using the "Transfer Tool" option in WHM is really the better route to take. Thank you. 0
