Site showing as "Index of/" instead of homepage

Site URL: - Removed - aftter deleting some files with cpanel. i could no longer get any pages on the site to load. instead of loading the homepage like it used to. it now just shows an index listing of files on the server. strange thing is all the pages are still there on the server but when i click on them in the index listing i get an "Error 404 resource not found" the home page is stored as index.html so the webserver should be loading it by default. ive also tried editing the .htaccess file to load index.html file by default but it didn't work any idea what the problem could be? any help would be appreciated

  You might check file permissions on the index.html. Monitoring your error log and then attempting to open the index.html in your browser might be helpful as well. The good news is, your 404's are working. :)

  don't think its a permissions thing. tried fiddling around with the permissions and it didn't change anything. also its not just the homepage that can't be viewed every page is generating a 404 but all the html files are still in the same location in the www folder. im really stumped as to what i did to break the site as everything that should be their in order for it to run is still therir

  Well thanks for the suggestion, turns out it was a permissions problem according to the error log something changed the permissions on all the folders on the server. will have to investigate and see what it was anyway changed it back and everything seems to be working now

  Great news then! You might check your FTP client settings, assuming you used one to upload the site.
