Why is there no Backup destination for FTP with SSL/TLS?
It seems to be quite normal for the user base of Cpanel to use unencrypted FTP. It that because encryption is not need for you FTP server since they are all in the same DC and everybody inside the DC is trusted?
Since the backupfiles are not encrypted the data can be sniffed.
I posted a feature request 10 months ago to see if others are searching for that, but no one seems to search for it.

In other feature requests comment I get the impression that FTP as a destination is used by many. But sending credentials in plain text seems to be no issue. It is a mystery to me.

I have voted there :) Indeed data should be encrypted while you take backup via ftp. 0 -
Hello :) Have you considered using SFTP when choosing the additional destination in the backup configuration area of WHM? Thank you. 0 -
SFTP is not always a valid solution, as it's actually SSH FTP, not all destination devices/servers support SSH. However almost anything that supports plain/insecure FTP also supports FTP with SSL/TLS. I have now run into a situation where I can no longer use plain FTP due to compliance reasons, and SFTP is also not an option. 0 -

Would you mind opening a new feature request for the inclusion of FTPS as a backup destination type? We've made some changes to how feature requests are handled since the previous request that's now archived was opened a couple of years ago. Thank you.0
