Thank you smoge. On any of those instances do you happen to have CloudLinux 6 running on boxes with x10 motherboards with Xeon 1270 CPU's? I was told that CL 6.x is not compatible with the x10 motherboard with 1270 cpu in their DAL09 data center, which is really strange since

Hello, I communicated with Igor over at Cloud Linux and concluded there are no known issues with Cloud Linux running on x10 motherboards. Statistics show there are plenty of servers running Cloud Linux on that motherboard. Hardware compatibility issues with Cloud Linux are typically only found with hardware that requires binary drivers. You can view the hardware requirements for Cloud Linux at:

Thank you cPanelMichael, for the confirmation. This is a very strange situation. I was able to order the servers with CL 6.4 and then when it want to provisioning they said 6.4 was not compatible, and offered me the choice of 6.5 or 5.x. So I asked to go with 6.5. The next day I got a call from sales telling me that no version of CL 6 would be compatible with the x10 board Xeon 1270 at Softlayer's DAL09 DC, and that only CL 5.x would work. Since then I've been corresponding directly between CL support and SL sales, and CL support of course says there's no issue but for some reason SL says they're trying to find the appropriate hardware to complete the builds. I'm befuddled by it all because these are standard servers we're talking about here, and available for order right on the SL order page. Feels like there's a piece of information I'm not being given...

I recommend asking SoftLayer for specific details about why that hardware is not compatible with CL6. That should help pinpoint the source of any misunderstandings. Thank you.
