is backup quota free?

quota is 1gig for customer. But his website backup is 2gig. Does that mean I would need to increase quota to allow for the extra space? As I read somewhere on this forum that backups do not add onto quota?? thanks

  found the link re free quota which seems strange.

  Hello, What method are you using to generate the backup? For instance, the backups configured in Web Host Manager to do not contribute to an account's disk space quota when they are generated. Backups generated through cPanel are owned by the account username, and thus do contribute to an account's disk space quota. Thank you.

  Yes I mean through the customer area of cpanel using normal backup wizard. That answered my question. Thank you
