Upgrade SSH
The current version of SSH is vastly out of date. It's amazing that no one has complained on here before about updating it. Is there any problem with removing the current install of openssh and installing an updated one such as version 6.8?
The current version that cPanel installs is OpenSSH_5.3p1.

Hello, cPanel does not install OpenSSH. It's an OS package that's managed by YUM. You can simply run "yum update" to ensure it's updated. Also, note that patches might be backported: rpm -q --changelog openssh|grep CVE
CentOS or RHEL won't always use the latest version provided by OpenSSH. Thank you.0 -
Thank you for the reply, but I am not only interested in the security patches, but I am interested in the newer security and encryption features of the newer versions. 0 -
Although I do see that CentOS 7 ships with openSSH 6.3,which is a major upgrade from 5.3. I hope they decide to upgrade further, in the past few releases there have been nice upgrades to the crypto capabilities with SSH that people need to start using.
