How to Remove CloudLinux?

    The output may simply mean that you are not running a CloudLinux kernel. If you are not using an "lve" kernel, CageFS does nothing. What is the output of this command?
    # uname -a
    If the kernel name does not have "lve" in it, then you are not using a CloudLinux LVE kernel, and CageFS is doing nothing. If that is the case, you can simply remove the CageFS RPM package.

    Yes. You're correct. Thank you. When I ran the CloudLinux supplied uninstall scripts... these took care of replacing the lve kernel. So, that process left CageFS on the machine. I guess that's a courtesy... if CageFS OpenSource such that I can continue running it without the lve kernel? It's probably useless without the lve kernel. Maybe the ClouLinux uninstall script leaves the CageFS alone assuming that we have FS cleanup work to do in transferring content away from the CageFS back into regular/non-caged FSs... Also... I'm seeing that there's no WHM gui option for the RPM uninstall command? I'll do it at a root terminal. Thanks for your help.

    For further posterity... In order to properly/cleanly remove CloudLinux from your instance:
      ]
    • First, while still running with the CloudLinux "lve" versioned kernel, migrate/move all folder/file content away from the caged file system into your non-caged file systems...
    • Follow the instructions at ...
    This last step involves replacing the CloudLinux "lve" versioned kernel with your own kernel. It probably makes the best sense to build such a replacement kernel first... before you start this above process.
