Will archiving past emails from server disappear from Outlook?

I was wondering if the emails that are compressed and moved from the server will still appear within the client's outlook program? So, they'll at least be able to retrieve an old email from their Outlook if searched. I really need to get a handle on this 14GB, it's all client related with pdf attachments (some as big as 30MB) and continuous reply email conversations, none of it is spam.

Hello, Did the user configure their mail client for IMAP or POP3? Thank you.

Hi, It's all IMAP. I was told by my hosting provider to use IMAP

The emails will not remain viewable in the email client if the messages are moved to another location. However, you could have the user switch to POP3 and download all of the messages after sending a copy of them to another location. Thank you.

I'm not able to have them convert back over to a POP3 setting. After a slew of issues between multiple devices, third-party email issues that went on for months, I would rather them stay on IMAP for the sake of everyone's sanity. I think I will have all the employees with the highest mail folder size to archive their inbox folder within the program they're using (Outlook 2007), then compress the folders in cPanel and move it to another location.

Feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions throughout the process. Thank you.
