Getting started with SSL
Hi Everyone,
I've just spun up a new VDS cPanel server, on which I have root access. I've used cPanel / WHM on shared hosting platforms for years and so just need to get a feel for the extra 'root' elements of administration.
My current uncertainty is regarding SSL certificates.
Although I have root access, I've also setup my company's domain as a reseller - we'll call it mydomain.com.
I want to be able to provide SSL/TLS on E-mails (for me and my client domains) and also stop the SSL warning errors on webmail and cPanel access. I'm fairly sure what I want is possible, I just don't know the terminology to search for - so my apologies if this is a frequently asked question.
How can I set this up on mydomain.com so that it is shared for all of my clients' domains also?
Can I do this with a self-signed certificate or would (should) I go with a paid cert? If paid, I assume this is what a 'wildcard' certificate is?
Some steps, best practice, advice and terminology pointers would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks for your time.
Gavin

No you will get the error0 -
Do you recommend any specific SSL Certificate? I want to use in my website about - Removed - and i don't know what is the best option in the market. I pretend to protect the database, we ask with frequency for email and in our payment page, where the customers can add their credit card to do a payment. Thanks 0 -
Hello :) We don't advise using any particular certificate provider over another. You are welcome to seek out user-feedback on that question, or post the question on an alternate forum such as WebHostingTalk. Thank you. 0
