new server migration - sites slow on MariaDB

HI We've performed a server migration this weekend due to diskspace issues on old server. Old Server Spec: Dell R210 1 x Intel 4 core 3.0Ghz 32GB Ram 2 x 600GB SAS (raid 1) 15,000 rpm CloudLinux 6 / MySQL 5.5 new Server: Dell R720 2 x Intel 6 Core 3.0Ghz 128GB Ram 2 x 960GB SSD (raid 1) / partition 8 x 1TB SATA (raid10) /home partition CloudLinux 6 / MariaDB 10 Both servers have apache 2.4.12 and PHP 5.4.40 we setup new server and used mysql upgrade option in WHM to upgrade from MySQL to MariaDB. We then performed migration and moved IPs. Sites work but seem slower to initially load than before. ie visiting a domain in web browser would take a few seconds before any content is loaded. the load seems to be around 6-8 on average on new server, old server load would typically be around 1.
