Does mails repeat when migrating cpanel account
Hello,
We are planning to host own cpanel server and move our account from hosting provider to our cpanel server.
So when doing backup at hosting provider using cpanel and restore it at our cpanel server does there will be any problems with mails like mail clients configured in pop downloading all the mails again.
Regards,
CEH

If you are taking backup using cpanel script and restoring it on another server then you will not face any mail issue. The only problem you will face is with email clients. If you are using mail.domain.com in email client then you will not face any issue. But if you are using IP instead of mail.domain.com then you have to replace the IP in email client so that it will download mails from new server. 0 -
Yes the email client will re-download all the emails. So, if you have 10k or 20k email in your inbox on the server, all emails will be downloaded again by your email client. This happens in other some scenarios too, not just when migrating. Let's say the account got over quota and you have increased the quota, this will happen again. 0 -
Hello :) Is your existing email client configured for POP3 or IMAP? If it's configured for IMAP, then email should remain synced after setting up the account on the new server. With POP3, assuming you are not leaving a copy of the message on the server, you won't download duplicate messages because the messages are removed from the server when you download them. Thank you. 0
