New dedicated Server: Mail Delivery Error
Hey Guys,
I just setup my dedicated server last month and I"m just getting around to working with it and noticed today that the WP install on one of the Cpanel accounts wasn't sending out notification emails. I setup email accounts through each Cpanel and tried sending and receiving emails for each one. I can receive emails from the outside, but when I attempt to send anything to any email I immediately get a "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender"
Where do I start to try and solve this? Its probably a DNS issue.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. Please don't post details with actual email addresses in them on a public forum. The error message clearly states the IP is on a blocked list. Feel free to repost with actual details modified.. 0 -

o.k its a brand new IP that has never been used for sending email. How can it be on a blocked list?0 -
Brand new to you. :) The IP must have been blocked prior to you getting it I guess. You'll need to contact them and see about having it unblocked. 0 -
I just checked and I forgot to setup my reverse DNS (PTR). Is this something that can be done from the root WHM or does my hosting provider have to implement this? 0 -
Your hosting provider would need to do this, the option may be available in their control panel. 0 -

Hello :) You can contact your hosting provider and ask then to configure RDNS for your IP address pointing to the hostname of your server. Also, it's a good idea to enable SPF via the "Email Authentication" option in cPanel. Thank you.0
