You don't setup email accounts via WHM. You'll need to create your Package, and then create an account and assign it that Package. Once you've created that account, you can login as that user and create the email accounts as needed. These docs should be useful to get you going in the right direction:

No trouble. That link might not be the best one for you to start with. Assuming that you've got your server all setup (DNS, etc.), properly secured and up to date, you want to setup your Packages, next. In WHM, type Package in the search tool top left corner. Find: Add a Package, and click into it. There, you'll choose the options for your Packages and create them. Next, Type Create in the search tool top left corner of WHM. Find: Create a New Account, and click into it. Here you'll create your cPanel account, set the various options and choose that Package you created. (That new account will need a domain name of course, and the server will need nameservers setup properly in advance, for all this to work.) When you save on Create new Account page, the details are displayed, copy and save those details. Once you get this far, you should have a new cPanel account created and ready to go that you can login to and create an email account. The documentation is your best friend if you're new to all of this. Above is a very brief description to get you going. :) GL!

hi, thanks so much for this. apparently the domain and package was already set up to go. what i think i'm stuck at is creating the cpanel account specifically for the domain so i can log in and be able to create an email account? where would i be able to find that information?

hi again, sorry for all the hassle. i've managed to work out all the cpanel stuff and got to the email setup page. however, when i try to create an email i get this: Error Unable to safely open file: Permission denied how could i go about fixing this? is there a file/folder/directory that needs to have its permission changed, and if so, would you know which and to what permission (0000 to 0777)?

Hello :) What output do you see in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log when this error message appears in your cPanel interface? Thank you.
