If you are having root access of the VPS then you can use FTP (filezilla or cuteftp or winscp) to connect to the server then go inside /backup folder there you can see the backup files. You can download the files into your local machine. Once download gets completed then you can delete the files/folders using same application there is no need to do SSH. I will suggest you to go with winscp it is simple and easy to use.

Hello :) I am happy to see you were able to determine the correct location for the existing backup archives and successfully remove them. Thank you for updating us with the outcome.

Hi, When the backups are deleted using WinSCP is there anything that needs to be done to shrink the database? I have almos run out of space and deleted a 6GB file but the space issue remains. Thanks
