Most email from root not forwarding

I've got WHM set up to forward emails from root to a Gmail address (yeah, I know). I'm receiving some, but not all, of root's notifications there. The rest wind up frozen by the hundreds in the queue. I ran a mail delivery report in WHM and the deferral error is "remote host address is the local host". So forwarding seems to be working only some of the time. Any ideas?

  Gmail and other free email service providers will rate limit and possibly block your email from the server even if everything is setup properly on your end. Is your server.domain.com listed in /etc/localdomains?

  You will need to check your exim logs to see if Gmail is blocking your emails. If this is a new server, I find gmail is quick to block technical type notices from servers. Also, for the emails you did receive at Gmail, check the headers to assure that SPF/DKIM, if used, passed.
