Server powers down daily during cpanel update

Hello Every morning I awake to find the server has powered down. When I look at var/log/messages I see that the last entries usually show some kind of cpanel update activity. I thought I'd turned off automatic cpanel updates but clearly i haven't. My hosts says I should talk to cpanel so here I am asking if anyone here can help me identify and resolve the issue. The box runs fine during the day, yet for some reason when it does whatever it does at around 2am, the box decides that it doesn't like it and turns itself off. The host has advised that the hardware is fine and that it's a software issue. Don't really know what to do or where to start. Can you help? Thanks

  Hello :) What specific entries do you see in /var/log/messages or /var/log/dmesg at the time of the power down? You can browse to "Update Preferences" in Web Host Manager to disable automatic cPanel updates. Thank you.

  Hi Michael I think it was my hosts fault. They were too quick to shirk responsibility and palm me off to cpanel forums telling me that software issues were outside of the realm of support. One of their guys stepped up to the plate though and after a patch to their box was applied, my mysterious problem disappeared. They never accepted it was an issue their end, but funny how it mysteriously went away. But thanks for asking though, it's appreciated!
