Email Account Forwarder Within Domain Not Working
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to solve this problem.
I have a dedicated server with root access, SpamAssassin is disabled.
I have an email account setup: joe.smith@domain.com which works fine.
I have a number of forwarders in the format:
joe@domain.com => joe.smith@domain.com
For some reason, emails sent to joe@domain.com do not get forwarded to joe.smith@domain.com.
I have tried to delete all the forwarders and read them. I have deleted the email account, readded it and readded the forwarders. I also restarted the server.
None of these options worked.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Joe

I also checked the exim_main log and the emails show they were forwarded to the correct email address. But they are never received by the email client. 0 -
Hello :) What's the specific entry in /var/log/exim_mainlog that shows the successful forward? Are you sure the email didn't get filtered out or moved to a specific folder in the email client for the destination email address? Thank you. 0 -
Than you for responding to my question. Turns out to be a Gmail issue. For future reference, this is my setup: cPanel account: joe@domain.com cPanel forwarder: joe2@domain.com Using Gmail as my email client, I setup POP/SMTP (in Gmail) to retrieve and send email to/from joe@domain.com. When I tried to send email from joe@domain.com to joe2@domain.com, Gmail saw that joe2@ is just an alias and decided not to 'clutter' my inbox so it never displayed it. They figured if I wanted a copy of the original email from joe@, it is in sent. I didn't know about this hidden Gmail 'feature'. Joe 0 -
