SSL problem after Windows update
Hello,
We have been using POP3S and SMTPS without any issues. Suddenly, some users started reporting inability to download their emails. The mail client is reporting that the server does not support this type of encryption, other users continue to work without any issues. SMTP is not affected, users can still send using secure connection.
Changing the settings to POP3 (110) would solve the problem in downloading, but this is not the actual solution for the problem.
What we noticed however is that this error in fact starts to appear as soon as Windows does live update; some users had no issues, but when they restarted their computers and new updates were applied during this process, the error started to come up. So it seems some Windows update is breaking this.
The issue is affecting different versions of MS Outlook, and different Windows versions.
Anybody facing the same issue?

This error states that the encryption method used by the client (e.g. Outlook) is not supported. This is unlikely to be a Windows Update issue and more an issue of a setting has been changed on your server. It's also possible that there is a misconfiguration of the SSL.0 -
Hello :) Have you made any recent changes to the cipher settings on your system? Thank you. 0 -
Hello Thanks for the replies. We did not make changes on the cPanel itself. Like mentioned previously, all the cases we faced happened after a Windows completed a live update. I, myself, had it working, then when I shut-down my laptop and Windows completed the update, I stopped being able to download emails. Other people who did not do any Windows update have not reported any issue and continue till now to work normally. Thanks 0 -
Hello, My cipher list is the default one, with no changes ALL:!ADH:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:-LOW:-SSLv2:-EXP 0 -
Anyone pls? 0 -
Hello, I WANT to use SSL, the solution you proposed does not solve the cause. Pls check the initial post, some clients can use SSL and some can't. Thanks 0 -
Well, then post the configuration of each individual email client settings. Sometimes the ports are wrong. Sometimes TLS and SSL are different options. If your mailserver settings is set to enforce encrypted connections theses errors are typical. It might be something different, but without further information it is just guessing. 0 -
Iorio, thanks for your feedbacks, but again, the settings are fine. Take me as an example, my mail client was working, I restarted the computer, windows updated, then my email client stopped working. The same happened with others. They same settings were there before and after the restart, and the same settings are there for users were not affected by the issue. Thanks 0 -

Hello :) Could you let us know the specific settings you are using? While we do understand the same settings worked in the past, it's important to know what these settings are to help better determine any potential reason for the failure. Thank you.0
