Is probably gzip (from cpbackup) causing the problem? My backups run during nights, but I noticed that never manage to complete in one night... the cpbackup continues in the morning... Do you think it's possible?

Hi, You did not include the top of `top'. The part that specifies load, memory usage, and I/O.

Hello, Regarding backup, If you have enough space on your server then I will suggest you please try to enable incremental backup on your server.

@Madmachine Tks for replying, i'm using this script (from the guide "Troubleshooting high server loads on Linux servers") to monitor high loads. The script send me the output I posted before when the system has a load average of 6 or more. The load in that case was 15, P:218, Swap use 07%. I really don't know how to have the "top" output of that precise time (when overload occurred)... any suggestion is appreciated! @24x7server tks for the suggestion, but i can't use incremental backup because my server use ftp backup on a remote server. And, as i fas as i know, this is not compatible with incremental backup. So, assuming that my problem is the gzip/cpbackup wich take more than one night to complete... here is my question: How can I tell to the server to exclude some account from daily backup (keeping alive the weekly backup)? Alternatively, how can I tell to the server to split the accounts in two groups, and to complete the first group tonight, and the second group tomorrow night? And so on, so i have a fresh backup every two days (instead of one for each day)? I'm looking around for both solutions, but without success. Thanks for your time.

Hello :) You should first verify that's the case before proceeding to modify your backup configuration. Does the issue continue when backups are not generating? Thank you.
