dns only not updating

We've been experiencing issues with our DNS only servers not updating in the cluster. They all have 10gb partitions each with around 1.5 - 2gb free. 2 of the servers cannot update due to requiring 3gb to update, which to me feels like a lot just for updating DNS records. What can we do to resolve this?

  Sorry, dev gave the wrong info :) "cPanel & WHM cannot update due to insufficient disk space in the staging directory, "/usr/local/cpanel". The system requires 3 GB to update; this directory only has 1.43 GB available" A way around this?
