A Few Issues with WHM
Hey, all,
I'm new to hosting and WHM in general; although, I've used cPanel for several sites in the past.
I recently purchased a reseller account, and my host is a little slow and vague to help.
Maybe the forum can shed some light on my issues:
1) My main domain seems to disappear every time I log off and back onto WHM. I have no way to see or fix this as I don't have access to the server. What could it be and how do I fix this?
2) A couple of times now, I've gotten the message "The login is invalid." Every other time the host has been able to fix this. But, now they are telling me that the credentials are working for them, but they are not working for me (FTP, cPanel and WHM do not work).
3) I keep getting blocked from my own sites. From my understanding, this is cphulk protecting against brute-force attacks. Can I white-list my own IP, or is this something my host has to do?
Thanks, everyone!

Hello, 1) For this issues you need to discuss this with your hosting provider. They will check cPanel logs and will assist you on this. 2) You are getting "The login is invalid." messages that means your local ISP IP is blocked in cphulk and due to that you are getting this issues only from your IP. 3) You can not white-list your ISP IP in allow list from your end as you do not have access to do it. If you have static IP then you can place a request to your hosting provider to add that IP in white-list. 0 -
Hey, thanks. They've whitlisted my IP for me. However, this is not resolving "The login is invalid" issue. Additionally, they have not been able to resolve the problem with my main domain disappearing. They seem to fix it, but every time I log off and back on it disappears again (four or five times now). 0 -
Disappears from where, exactly? As for login invalid, are you by chance copy pasting your password when logging in? If yes, you might want to check to be sure you've got no space, before or after your username and password. 0 -
Disappears from WHM (Account list, DNS Zone, etc.) As for the passwords, I've tried both ways, and nothing works, 0 -
You might want to ask your Hosting Provider to open a support ticket with cPanel Technical Support about this. Domains shouldn't be disapearing once added properly on a functioning server. 0 -

Will do. Thanks!0 -
Unfortunately, it seems that my host is incompetent. They keep telling me that they can log into my WHM, cPanel and FTP, but I still can't. Is there any possible reason for this? 0 -
You bet, server security, Firewall, cPHulk. Have you tried connecting from another IP address? 0 -

No, I haven't been able to. I'd have to find a library or something lol. However, my IP was supposedly white listed, which I can attest to, because I can access my sites no matter how many times I try to connect to the server (FTP and WHM).0 -
Hey, all. So, I had someone else try to login from somewhere else, and it works. But, I do get the FTP welcome message (but no login), which rules out firewall issues. What else could it be? 0 -

If you've got a mobile device, disconnect it from your home WiFi and try with it using your phones IP. You might reboot your router to see if you can grab a new IP that way. There are proxy services that you might try, although I'd be careful doing that trying to login to cPanel & WHM, TBH.However, my IP was supposedly white listed, which I can attest to, because I can access my sites no matter how many times I try to connect to the server (FTP and WHM).
Ask your Hosting Provider to white list your IP, or at least remove it, from cPHulk.Unfortunately, it seems that my host is incompetent.
There's at least one other issue here with domains disappearing, aside from your login issues. It might be easier to find a proper Hosting Provider offering somewhere else. A few reputable suggestions for you:0 -

Good luck. Let us know what you find out. 0 -
Hey, all. I know it's been a while. I'm still facing these issues. Beware, it's a bit long-winded. So, to recap: 1) WHM, cPanel and FTP all went out at the same time. 2) These all work on outside IPs. 3) All ports are open on my firewalls and supposedly my IP is whitelisted with my host. Here's the new information: FTP is not working for a client of mine whose site is on a different host. I get this message on all FTP sites: Status: Resolving address of website Status: Connecting to IP:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Initializing TLS... Status: Verifying certificate... Status: TLS connection established. Command: USER Response: 331 User OK. Password required Command: PASS ********* Response: 530 Login authentication failed Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server cPanel and WHM only say that login is invalid. Now, I'm posting here because I've spoken with my host and ISP, but the addition of my client issues, it makes me turn here to see if some more experienced person has a clue. Thanks again! 0 -
Hello :) I suggest asking your provider to review /usr/local/cpanel/logs/login_log to see if there are any specific messages when access to cPanel/WHM is denied. Thank you. 0
