Migration Question

I've got a new server set up to migrate accounts from an old server. I have always done this using the Transfer Tool and not worried about retaining the IP of the old server. I'm not sure what the point of all that is reading the documentation here:

  If I'm getting you right, propagation depends on your ISP, it has nothing to do with cPanel nor with DNS setup, this documentation explains if you want to move IP address as well that's why it has step 4 and 5 which you have to skip them.

  Right. I understand about propagation. My question has to do with why move the IP of the old server to the new server at all? Why would one want to do this? It just sounds needlessly complicated when you can just move accounts from one server to the new server and DNS will propagate normally. I am wondering if there is a reason for doing steps 4 and 5 that I am missing.

  Hello :) Some users prefer to maintain the same IP addresses to avoid changing the name server IP addresses or to accommodate users with domain names using remote name servers. Thank you.
