Hello :) Do you notice any entries to /var/log/messages or /var/log/dmesg when this occurs? Thank you.

I have a ticket logged, 6987479, I received a reply saying to contact my provider as it looked like a hardware issue. My provider checked and looks like during the backup that the disk stays in readonly mode. They found these logs from when the VPS was restarted : [ 1.123218] EXT4-fs (vda1): INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem [ 1.123224] EXT4-fs (vda1): write access will be enabled during recovery [ 1.302446] Refined TSC clocksource calibration: 3292.476 MHz. Hello :) Was your provider able to address the issue with the hard drive? Thank you.

How do you know it's an issue with the hard drive ? Can you tell that from the logs ? Is it not the backup process that is causing the disk to stay in read only mode (presumably because I am also backing up the system) ?

INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem

The cPanel backup process does not put your system into read-only mode. This message often indicates an issue with the filesystem. You will need to either run FSCK on the partition, or consult with your provider to determine if it's an issue with the hard drive itself. Thank you.
