Same domain name with different account & ip

He Guys, I'd like to have a development version (clone) of my site on the same server. Is it possible to create a new account with the same domain name but a different ip so i can point my hosts file to the development account if i'm working on it? If tried creating a new account in whm but it tells me the domain is already in use. thanks! Wouter

  Hello :) You can't use the same domain name on multiple accounts, but you could use a domain name such as "dev.domain.com" or "domain.net". Thank you.

  He Michael! Thank you for your answer! I'd like to use the hosts file method instead of a (sub)domain as we have custom osx and windows applications calling the site (as part of an activation process). They're not as easily directed to a different (sub) domain as a normal website. So i think i'd be better of using a second server then. Thanx! Wouter

  Hello :) Yes, a second server is suitable and will allow you to use the same domain name (provided you are not using a DNS cluster). Thank you.
