EasyApache 4 Usage
Updated to the bleeding edge build excited to tryout the new EasyApache4 and to my surprise...
"EasyApache4 is not available when EasyApache3 is in effect."
How can we correct this?
Thank you.

Hi, Once on EDGE / 11.52(11.51 dev) build, you can run the following to send your server to EA4: /scripts/migrate_ea3_to_ea4 --run
Once done, you'll see the new interfaces in the UI. I hope this helps!0 -
11.52 has been released to CURRENT and last night our servers received the upgrade. This morning I have tried to login to WHM and usually I am presented with a popup that allows me to activate new features but this never happened. When I try to access EA4 it tells me "EasyApache4 is not available when EasyApache3 is in effect". So why hasn't cPanel implemented something that allows EA4 to be activated with ease? Didn't expect to have to Google the answer. 0 -
I just ran that command and now I know why it has not been made available for general use. But surely if EA4 is still a technology preview, why does it not say so on the EA4 page? # /scripts/migrate_ea3_to_ea4 --run This action will install a Technology Preview release of EasyApache4 for cPanel & WHM. This means that you understand the following: "" Not all features in cPanel & WHM are operational. "" Not all EasyApache features are included in the Technology Preview. "" Features and functionality in the release may change over time. "" We will quickly address severe or critical issues only. "" Security bounties are not available. Do you wish to continue? I'm waiting for more documentation on the transition steps from EA3 to EA4. I did the migrate script and had no services running whatsoever. No apache, no php...nada. I was hoping more for a EA3 profile migration that would be converted to the EA4 schema as-is, then later create new EA4 profiles to take advantage of things like multiple PHP versions, etc. I then went into EA4 on WHM to build a profile...I selected a couple of different options, but got too many errors (500, 403) on the apache side for existing applications running on the server. Most of them I am sure had to do with SuPHP and the like. All of our .htaccess overrides and configuration were also thrown out with the default EA4 profile build. There is lots of EA4 documentation mind you, but nothing much on the caveats and differences in migrating from EA3. Can't wait to be able to migrate to EA4 though...here's hoping for more comments and user discussion! 0 -

Hello! The EasyApache 4 UI inside WHM provides links on how to operate EasyApache 4. You can migrate with those tools.I'm waiting for more documentation on the transition steps from EA3 to EA4. Hi! I'd love to see your server and what caused those issues. Could you put in a support ticket so we might be able to check it out? Thanks!0 -

Sure! Since the warning about Tech Preview I wasn't going to bother support with it until it made it into release, but I am dying to get multiPHP going so I am now opening up a ticket!0 -
According to layer2.cpanel.net, 11.52 has been pulled from CURRENT: Obviously this means 11.52 is not fit for production use after all. If that's the case, how do I go about downgrading to 11.50? The EasyApache 4 UI features no such links to migrate: 0 -
I'm not seeing that here, and have updated to 11.52 successfully. 0 -
It's showing as 11.52 for me again! 0 -
HI! Indeed the EA4 UIs didn't make it into 11.52.0. I've got a case opened for that now and I'm getting it backported as we speak. This will be out shortly. My apologies, I thought this UI made it into 11.52.0. 0 -
Awesome, thanks Jacob! 0 -
Jacob, that link does not state EA4 is a technology preview. Should it? 0 -
Hi, I wouldn't lay too much on the 'Technical Preview' portion of EA4. Technically it is, but we provide those warnings during the initial migration only. I've been running EA4 on my personal server since March without many issues. Currently, lots of things are changing with it still, so it's not recommended to start building your systems off of it, as we might change things you aren't expecting before 11.54. I hope this helps explain a little on the Technical Preview portion, and it's status. 0 -
I have recently upgraded to 11.52.0.5 and i notes the same problem whit "EasyApache4 is not available when EasyApache3 is in effect." If i understand this right you dont recommend to upgrade to EasyApache4 yet? 0 -
I am going to give it a test run on a dev server... let's see, we were waiting for the EA4 features for quite some time..hopping to see Nginx soon. 0 -

please let me know, where migrate tools? i did not found any links for doing EasyApache 4 update.0 -
If you have cPanel 11.52, you will see Home " Software " EasyApache 4 in the WebHost Manager. It contains a link to the documentation that dWM posted. Note that EasyApache 4 is only available in cPanel 11.52. cPanel 11.52 is only in the EDGE and CURRENT tiers right now, so if you have RELEASE or STABLE selected as your update tier, you still have cPanel 11.50. 0 -

Will all the cipher settings and such disappear? We JUST finished complying with SAQ-D and I'd hate to have to reconfigure everything from scratch, again. Have you done Penetration testing and certify DSS?0 -
Will PHP 5.3(or 5.2 even) be made available for EasyApache 4 in the future or is there no plan to support anything below 5.4? I certainly understand not supporting 5.2, although I'd hope there's an optional method such as EA3's custom module but unfortunately many people are still running software that requires 5.3 like Joomla 1.5. 0 -
I have to say I'm not impressed with the new EA4 approach. I understand it's a technical preview - but it just seems far too unfinished to even be classed as a preview in my opinion. Will EA4 eventually be exactly like EA3 where everything could be configured via the UI without the need to dive into SSH? 0 -
I'd like to thank everyone for trying out the EA4 Tech Preview and providing your feedback, lots of things to discuss in this thread! Will all the cipher settings and such disappear? We JUST finished complying with SAQ-D and I'd hate to have to reconfigure everything from scratch, again.
Your cipher settings should be migrated to EA4, if it is not please open a ticket so that we can investigate further. Will PHP 5.3(or 5.2 even) be made available for EasyApache 4 in the future or is there no plan to support anything below 5.4? At this point we do not plan on offering support for EOL'd versions of PHP, CloudLinux offers a superior method for handling these older versions and offers quite a bit of value with their PHP packages due to the fact that they back port security fixes to older versions of PHP.I have to say I'm not impressed with the new EA4 approach. Yes, this is absolutely the goal. We had hoped to release package selection in the 11.52 tech preview, however we simply weren't ready when feature freeze came. Currently if you want to be able to install specific packages you will need to use the yum cli to provision it.0
