Force newer MySQL versions
WHM/cPanel supports quite old and slow versions of MySQL.
This can limit the latest version of phpMyAdmin bundled with WHM and means many versions of MySQL need to be supported.
Why should the latest version of WHM force an upgrade to MySQL 5.6 (or at least 5.5)?
Surely this would make everyone's life easier and less work for WHM support staff?
And in (say) six months just force MariaDB and ditch MySQL.

I my opinion cPanel updates do not touch MySQL. MySQL has to be upgraded depending on the requirements from WHM. By default cPanel performs a update daily using a cron. So, if MySQL upgrades everyday it will be a major problem to hosting providers. So, if in case you need to upgrade MySQL, simply login to WHM and upgrade it. 0 -
I'll reword it. Raise the minimum version supported by cPanel. cPanel can't have the latest versions of phpMyAdmin while old versions of MySQL exist 0 -
while old versions of MySQL exist
Could you rephrase that one more time? It's unclear what you're asking I think. WHM " Software " MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade0
