Clean Backups plug-in
The clean backups plugin was recommended (ndchost.com/cpanel-whm/addons/cleanbackups/) to me for automating old backup removal but I wanted to make sure this plugin will remove all old backups and not just backups for customers removed. The only option I see is:
"Backup TTL
How many days should a backup for an account that no longer exists stay in the backup directory before it is removed"
Is this just poorly worded and the plugin will remove all backups past the specified date or does it only work for accounts that no longer exist?
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello :) Have you considered simply configuring the retention periods for backups in "WHM >> Backup Configuration"? This will ensure backups are automatically removed after the configured retention period. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks for the reply. We are using legacy backup so unfortunately that wasn't an option. Cleanbackups does remove everything, in case anyone stumbles into this thread. I ended up making a script via terminal and ssh just to be safe (was trying to avoid figuring this out lol) and it doesn't find anything after clean backups runs. Oddly enough clean backups did find items left behind by my script if i ran them in the opposite order. 0 -
Is there any particular reason you prefer to use legacy backups instead of the new backup system? Thank you. 0 -
Basically because I am a new employee with little knowledge of unix and none of whm / cpanel. I was tasked with cleaning up old backups and this is how they currently have the server configured. I didn't want to risk messing anything up making major changes lol. 0 -
The new backup system includes several improvements over the legacy backup system so it's worth checking out when you have additional time for testing. Thank you. 0
