Installation question - trial license
Hi,
I am trying to set up a CloudLinux / cPanel test environment. I have installed CloudLinux and registered for a trial licence. I have run rhnreg_ks --activationkey=..... and then rhnreg_ks --force and that seems that have registered my CloudLinux. If I visit the CloudLinux license manager portal I can see my server hostname in there and the server seems to be activated (Activations left = 0).
After doing this I was able to install Perl which was preventing me from installing cPanel. Previously it would not allow me to do that because of a license complaint.
My problem now is that when I try to install cPanel it complains that my CloudLinux is not registered. It reports: Validating that the system hostname is a FQDN.
Then it reports ERROR: When you use CloudLinux you must register.
It tells me to run /usr/sbin/clnreg_ks --force
but I believe that command is for an IP based registration. I am trying to test it out on a trial key based registration.
I see on the forums that this is supposed to work - many people have and do do this for testing.
I have attached a screenshot.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help or hints would be very appreciated. I am out of ideas.
Thanks

HI, I'd recommend contacting CloudLinux about this issue. We can't really help you with that :) 0 -
This is resolved. After contacting Cloud Linux support and purchasing a Cloud Linux license based on advice from cPanel support, I still had this issue. Cloud Linux eventually gave the following advice which resolved this: I think that Cpanel issue can be related to subscription-manager plugin -- please try to disable it in /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/subscription-manager.conf please change 'enabled=1' to 'enabled=0'.
So it seems that I could have had this running with the trial license all along and that in an earlier attempt to get my trial Cloud Linux registered I had followed a thread which advised using the subscription manager plugin which I subsequently enabled. It seems enabling subscription-manager in Cloud Linux stops cPanel from installing. I was under the impression that an IP based license was a necessity based on this:0
