Download email attachments from FTP

Connection keeps dropping while trying to download an attachment via webmail. So I found the email on /mail/cur/ but it has an unknown file type (ending with ,S=26077:2,S). Download from FTP goes smooth, but I can't access the contents. I assume both the message and attachment are embedded into that file. QUESTION: Is there any I can extract the attachment from that file on FTP?

  Hello :) You can try downloading the message to a local email client on your computer (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird). Let us know if that helps. Thank you.
