email issue with remote exchange

Hi all, Looking for some assistance here. We recently made our new website live and in the process switched from shared hosting to VPS. Everything went smoothly, however we cant recieve any emails from our contact form on the website. I have contacted or hosts and they have been somewhat unreiable and provided very little help. I had a look at track delivery on cpanel and i have a whole host of entries following the result of "host lookup did not complete". We use hosted email and have set the mx to be remote exchanger to try and eliminate mail being sent to the local server. Really stumped on this one, can anyone help? Regards Flip

  Flip, Setting MX to remote will only work if the PHP script is set to use SMTP authentication. Can you start with:
  # tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog
  While your tailing that log file, test the form again and paste the results.

  Hello :) Is your PHP form using SMTP authentication for sending email, or is it attempting to send mail via the PHP mail function? Thank you.
