Confused about SSL!
Ok so after a lot of trial and error and huge help from jcats right here on this forum my new cpanel server is up and running! :D
Now iv come to emails i have set up email account using self signed ssl and everything is working fine but now i need to get myself an ssl certificate. I am however unsure of which i need!
My understanding so far an SSL certificate is for one site and if i got an Wildcard SSL certificate i could use it on all sub domains.
None of my sites require SSL i process no cards or sensitive data emails at most.
But i would like each of my Addon domains to use email via SSL so if i bought one certificate for server.domain.com could all my domains use this server?
So,
name@domain1.com
name@domain2.com
name@domain3.com
Can all use the same SSL certificate for emails providing there settings are server.domain.com?
Sorry if I'm being slightly dumb here I'm used to being given the SSL details not creating them.

Yes, If you want use SSL for mail services then you need to install SSL on your server hotname (Server.Domain.com), Once you purchase SSL for your server hostname, you can install that SSL on following services. [LIST] - Exim (SMTP).
- POP3 and IMAP.
- The cPanel services (cPanel & WHM and Webmail).
- Your FTP server Login your WHM and install SSL for services through WHM>> Service Configuration >> Manage Service SSL Certificates

I only need a normal SSL not a Wildcard SSL for only emails across multiple Add on domains? 0 -

Jcats! Thank you again! Is there a way to access this area via cPanel?0 -
Negative. If you do not want to use SSH, you can use SFTP as root. If you are using FileZilla you would do: Host: sftp://serverip or hostname Port: (Your SSH port, default is 22) Username: root Password: your root password. Then in the Remote Site: you can just copy paste /usr/local/apache/htdocs into that field and you will be all set to upload the .html 0 -

I get the error Error: Disconnected: No supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)0 -
Your server has password authentication disabled, do you have an ssh key? 0 -

This is probably a result of me trying to correct everything showing in security monitor. No should i generate one and use that as the password?0 -
No problem :) Happy to help 0 -
Ok i'm all set up now I think but I don't seam to be able to Send/Receive email using the settings given after setting up the email address. Do I have to change anything in the cPanel settings apart from assigning the SSL certificate? 0 -
Its strange because I'm only receiving cPanel Service Monitor Alerts and Wordpress Alerts which are all sent from my server. I can't send or receive anything else. 0 -
Ok think I've solved it scrap previous posts. Thanks again for taking the time though jcats 0 -
