Use second WHM server to relay mail inbound and outbound

I'm working on creating an anti spam gateway for multiple WHM servers, what I would like to do is have the gateway server act as a smart server for outbound AND inbound email. The outbound part is easy enough and if we just set the MX records inbound would work but that would mean hosting the email / webmail ON the gateway which we do not want. I'm looking for a relatively simple way to just pass the email through the gateway server and deliver it to the client's own server(s). If anyone has an idea on how to accomplish this I would greatly appreciate the pointers.

  To clarify, the gateway is also a WHM/ cPanel server.

  Hello :) This is unsupported, but you could achieve this setup the same way it's done with Barracuda or MailFoundry. This thread should give you a basic idea of how it works:
