Restoring Website Backup Taking Hours

Hello, I am restoring a 5GB website backup file, using the Backup Wizard. It has been 2 hours and only uploaded 20%. Is there a faster way to do this?

    Hello, If you are restoring the backup by choosing the backup file from your computer it completely relies on the transfer speed from your computer to the server. There isn't anything cPanel can do specifically, you may want to try uploading the file via FTP as you may get better transfer speeds then ask your host to restore it.

    Cause normally when I upload large files via File Manager its fast. So If I upload the backup to the server, how do I choose the file in the Backup Wizard? It asks for a local file.

    You don't. Once you've uploaded the backup to your account, assuming you've got enough space for the extra 5GB backup, you'll need to contact youe Hosting Provider to move that backup, and restore it properly. Be sure to upload the backup to a directory outside of public_html/ so its not publicly accessible. The Backup Wizard does not handle this size of backup.

    Ok, I uploaded the 8GB backup zip, and called OVH. They weren't helpful, just sent me to a guide how to upload files via FTP. I'm guessing I will have to manually restore all the files...

    You don't have access to WHM, do you? I'm assuming no. If not, your Hosting Provider is the only one that can restore a Full Backup of your account.

    Restoring the Full Account Backup from WHM is the best way to do this. The documentation I linked you to explains how to do that.

    Ok, I selected my 5GB USER.tar.gz backup file, and clicked Restore. After ~15 mins I got this - Removed -

    Please use the "Upload a File" option to attach an image to your post. That link did not work for me, but we can assume a 5GB file will take much longer than 15 minutes to properly restore.

    Was there any output displayed before it timed out? What's the exact name of that backup file you're attempting to restore? What version of cPanel was it taken from? What version of cPanel is running on the server you're restoring it to? Sorry for all the questions, but as many details s possible here may be of some use to get you going again.

    savvysum.tar.gz - Total size: 8.7GB Packed size: 5.9GB cPanel before: cPanel 11.36 (64 bits) cPanel Now: cPanel 11.36 (64 bits) Attempt #2: No Restricted restore, Restore with a file, Replace all instances of original IP, and Overwrite the existing user.

    That system is really out of date and no longer supported. cPanel & WHM software version 11.36 has reached End of Life (Feb 2014) Please feel free to do as that post mentions and open a ticket to cPanel Technical Support for suggestions on getting this done properly. I can't say for sure if they'll be able to help, but it can't hurt to ask. GL.

    I'm in the middle of uploading the backup file. Can I update cPanel after I restore my site?

    I would think so, yes. Although I'm not exactly up to date on any issues that might arise in doing so on such an out of date installation. You might want to spend some time and go over the documentation about upgrade blockers closely first to make sure you meet all requirements:
