Dev Enviornment to Live Two Accounts One Server
I'm building an upgrade for example.com on a new cPanel account at dev.example.com.
example.com exists as account exam.
dev.example.com is at account devexam.
example.com uses the shared IP.
dev.example.com uses a unique IP.
Both of these cPanel accounts are on the same server.
I'm ready for the dev site to go live and I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it.
The nameservers are remote. I've added the nameserver ip at /etc/ips.remotedns (I used WHM interface to do that).
However, I cannot add example.com on as an alias domain to dev.example.com because I get an error about example.com already in Apache config.
I've thought of two solutions:
Solution One
a. Point example.com to new IP address at nameserver dns
b. Terminate cPanel account with example.com
c. Add alias domain to dev.example.com account
Solution Two
a. Migrate example.com to a different server
b. Add alias domain to dev.example.com account
c. Point example.com to new IP address at nameserver dns
Any better ways to do this?
Thanks

Hello :) Either method is suitable, but you can also use the "Modify an Account" option in WHM after terminating the existing account for "example.com" so it's simply renamed instead of adding the parked domain: Modify an Account - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0
