Web disk access on account domain
Is it possible to access a web disk using the owning account's domain rather than the top level/main server domain as the server address?
I've set up a web disk access under an account, which works fine using the main server address. But using the account domain gives:
-----
There was a problem connecting to the server "example.com"
Contact your system administrator for more information.

The account domain has a security certificate installed. Nothing is being logged in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpdavd_error_log so I don't think the request is even hitting the server.
Please advise, thanks.

Hello :) Yes, it should work in the same way the cPanel/WHM service works. Does the domain name resolve to the server's IP address? Thank you. 0 -
The domain resolves to an ip address on the server and http and https etc work, but the account has a dedicated IP which is not the same as top level IP of the server. Is this an issue? 0 -
The issue here appears to be that cpanel will not serve the installed account certificate when connecting to web disk on port 2078. Instead, it will only serve the top level server cert. I found this: SSL certificate per domain on all services which explains further. In effect therefore the correct answer to my first question is that you can *only* access an account's web disk securely on a cpanel server using the top level server domain. This has major implications for using web disk on reseller accounts. Please confirm. 0 -
The certificate that's utilized is installed through: "WHM >> Manage Service SSL Certificate" You can only access it using the certificate installed for "Calendar, cPanel, WebDisk, Webmail, and WHM Services". Thank you. 0 -
I can't find "WHM >> Manage Service SSL Certificate" in WHM at the account level. Looking at "WHM >> Manage Service SSL Certificate" in the server level WHM, the certs referenced here are only the hostname level certs. This is what is being served for me when I'm accessing web disk services on account level domains. This screen allows for only one cert per service and doesn't allow for individual account certificates. This appears to a major limitation of the web disk function in cpanel, rendering it all but useless. I feel like I've missed something fundamental here, please advise if I'm incorrect. 0 -

This is the only location where you can install a certificate for the service, and per-domain certificates are not supported for these services. As you referenced, there's a feature request for what you are seeking at: SSL certificate per domain on all services Thank you.0
