WHM - remote mysql server version limitations?

Would love an answer to this. To recap, I am using a dedicated server for my databases and have setup WHM to use a remote MySQL server. On that remote server I have MariaDB installed. Will the integration with WHM work regardless of what version of MariaDB is installed? I would like to install 10.1.9. I realize I can install whatever I want on the remote server... it is the integration with WHM since it is setup for remote MySQL which is what concerns me / has me worried.

Hello :) The manipulation of databases (e.g. creation, removal) is tested against versions of MySQL and MariaDB that are supported by cPanel. Thus, it's likely a good idea to use a version that's supported by cPanel. That being said, you are welcome to experiment with a newer version of MySQL or MariaDB on the remote server. I'm not aware of any existing issues, but it's a good idea to test this on a non-production environment first. Thank you.

Is there somewhere I can find the currently supported versions of MySQL / MariaDB? Once you setup WHM to use a remote database basically all references to it are removed... in other words there is nowhere in WHM which says what the current version of either is.

Thanks for the response! Is there a link or somewhere which I can reference in the future to find this information... as well as what versions of WHM/Cpanel support them?

This is documented at: MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade - Documentation - cPanel Documentation However, note that MariaDB 10.1 support was recently added. Thank you.
