Mod_Pagespeed Question

Hello, So i have watch some tutorials and videos for mod_pagespeed , and i don't know to much about this but i have hear is a good idea to install it, but why you have not install it on default list as ioncube, zend and others ?! is a wrong idea to active this or a better idea ?! sorry for my bad english!
