Storage for Temporary Backup Files
Hello,
I'm running cPanel on a VPS with 100GB storage. It looks like the backup job requires a lot of space for temporary files and I'm worried that the remaining space might not be enough. Is there a way for the backup tool to utilize external storage for everything?

I am afraid not it needs to make the initial backup locally you can make a remote NSF mount or a sshfs mount 0 -
Hmm, is there a way to transfer backups as they are generated, instead of waiting for all accounts to be backed up? 0 -
that's what it should be doing if your using the new backup system and Transfer System Backups to Destination is checked in the remote location. it will create transfer remove 0 -

I haven't checked how it works exactly but this doesn't seem to be the case for me. In my experience, my daily backups don't seem to be completing due to lack of space (presumably), and the /backup folder is now filled with backups that are several days old. Take note that these should have been transported, as I have backups set to be deleted once they're transferred to my backup server. Also, my backup destination has been validated so that isn't the issue.0 -

You'll still need enough space on the local server to generate the backups, before they're transferred.0 -

If that's the case then I essentially need double the disk space? That's very impractical. I'm utilizing about 60% of my disk space (100GB total space) so there's plenty of room for temp files IF cPanel transported each backup as soon as backup generation completes. Is there really no way to alter this whole process?0 -

Voted. I see it's been 2 years since the request was posted and still nothing...0 -

From the Legacy Backup Configuration settings page: Backup Destination (This should be a directory, drive, or mount point with at least twice the space of all your /home* partitions. Setting this to /home is strongly discouraged.)
That message is not present in the new Backup Configuration settings page, but essentially, yes. At this time, that's what you'll need.Is there really no way to alter this whole process?
Your accounts are growing in size or numbers, it might be time to move a few of larger accounts to another server with larger HDDs.0
