Odd Behavior Of WHM 11.52 Backup Config...
I'm using the 11.52 WHM gui to set my Backup config options... but I'm realizing behavior different than my config values:
1.) I'm specifying no compression... but all backup files are being compressed (tar.gz);
2.) I'm specifying a daily backup kicking off at 2am local time and that the latest 15 days should be maintained... I'm getting the daily backup kicking off at 2am OK, but every previous backup is being deleted such that I only have the last/latest day's backup, no other/earlier day's.
Any ideas what going on here?

Hello :) 1. The archives are still generated in .tar.gz form even if compression is disabled. 2. Could you post a screenshot of your backup configuration interface with the retention settings visible? Thank you. 0 -
As far as the compression goes... the smallest sized files/folders are slightly larger in their tar.gz form, but the largest files/folders (such as var/cpanel) are less than half their uncompressed size... so it looks like some form of compression is happening irrespective of my "uncompressed" radio-button selection. Here's a screen shot of my WHM/Backup window: 0 -
Could you post the full size image? The image you attached is unreadable. Thank you. 0 -

1. The system always uses at least one thread to run pigz while it runs the pkgacct script in cPanel version 11.52. This occurs even when choosing "Uncompressed" in "WHM Home >> Backup >> Backup Configuration". 2. You have configured "15" for the maximum number of daily backup files to store on your system at any given time. This is not "15" per day, but rather "15" total. Thus, you should have just over two weeks of daily backup generations. Are you noticing different behavior? Thank you. 0 -
1. I don't understand what you're saying... without making an effort to research these new (to me) background processes/programs you're mentioning. As I don't mind the compression I'm getting (without asking for it), I don't mind this odd issue too much... 2.) I'm running the backup job via the WHM/gui cron window to execute at 2am each day. I'm not sure what you're referring to running 15 backups per day... I'm not looking to do 15 backups per day... I'm looking for the WHM process here to preserve (at least) 15 of my past days (2am) backups... It's not doing this... each day the backup cron job runs at 2am... afterwards the previous days backup is gone/deleted... I only have this latest day's backup folder... all the earlier days are gone/deleted. This behavior is against the 15 days I'm indicating. I want the WHM backup or cron process to leave the most recent 15 daily backups alone... to NOT delete or remove them. So... I'm having a problem here. Do you understand what I'm saying? BTW... I'm running cPanel 11.52 on CentOS 7.1... might this be involved in my challenge here? 0 -
Good News... the WHM backup app ran last night at it's appointed/cron 2am time slot... and this time it didn't delete the earlier backups... so now I have 2 days backup. Hopefully the program will keep well-behaving like this and eventually I'll have 15 days backups. I'm happy. Thanks for your attention & help! 0 -

I am happy to see it's behaving as expected. Feel free to let us know if any additional issues continue. Thank you.0
