MySQL is down on server

Yesterday, my website crashed. Or, what appears to be a crash. My host (JustHost) have disclosed that it was a SAN problem and have been rebuilding it. It's hard to get anymore information out of them because they are playing their cards very close to their chest for some reason. I have suffered almost 24 hours downtime in 2 days and I'm getting fed up. The error I am receiving on the frontend of the website is:
Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL.Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL.
Trying to access my phpMyadmin from cPanel gives me the following error: i67.tinypic.com/2h6x5cj.png Accessing SSH and trying to start the mysql service via putty I get:
Starting MySQL. ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/var/lib/mysql /mysqld.pid).
Can anyone please help me resolve this issue as my host is rather useless! Thanks!

SAN problem and have been rebuilding it.

What does this mean exactly? MySQL is not running on your server, hence those error messages. Are they still rebuilding things or are they done and you're on your own?

I don't know what it means, I cannot garner anymore information out of them. I've sent them 3 emails, spoke to several customer service representatives on live chat, rang them and "tweet'd" them and all I get is "we're rebuilding SAN"... I haven't attempted to do anything on my own. I have trusted them to restore things but I don't think it's likely to happen.

Without knowing more from them, there's really nothing more you can do but wait to hear back. cPanel should automagically restart MySQL if it goes down for some reason. You might try restarting it yourself from WHM: Restart Services - Documentation - cPanel Documentation At the bottom of that page is a link to more command line options.

Thanks for the information. I have just tried to restart the SQL server and I received "mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "mysql is not running")."
