Hello :) Are the servers connected through a DNS cluster? If so, syncing the zone to the additional server in the cluster does not require any additional actions. Thank you.

There is no cluster, secondary DNS is on OVH. Domain added in OVH client panel. I manually add allow-transfer [ IP-Here; }; to /etc/named.conf and now domains are transferred correctly.

I am happy to see the domain names are now transferred correctly. Thank you for updating us with the outcome.

So... I've the same situation, a cPanel server running the DNS as master and then another machine somewhere else running as slave using debian. I've modified `/etc/named.conf` to allow the zone transfer and it works. My question is: won't WHM / cPanel remove my settings from that file after someone updates the DNS zone or a WHM upgrade? How can I make sure WHM/cPanel will keep them? Thank you.

It should only update when you manually run the "/scripts/rebuilddnsconfig" script. Thank you.

Is there a better option? Is there any template file for the dns config like there's for Dovecot config for instance? If yes, where can I find it? I really need to make sure that config is still there even after a rebuild, a cPanel upgrade or whatever might come on the way. Thank you.

A cPanel update will not overwrite the entries to the /etc/named.conf file. This only happens if you manually run the "/scripts/rebuilddnsconfig" script. That said, I suggest opening a feature request for the ability to edit and preserve changes to the /etc/named.conf file via Web Host Manager: Submit A Feature Request Thank you.
