TSR-2016-0001 - server vulnerable if unlicensed?

Hi guys, I accidentally left an unlicensed cPanel running after the TSR-2016-0001 announcement came and went... Do I need to consider this server compromised now, or does the vulnerability not work if the server is unlicensed?

  I think you must use a licenses software so no need to worry about these type issues.

  Hello :) There's no way for us to know if your server has been compromised. Was it accessible to the public as an unlicensed server? You may need to consult with a qualified system administrator to investigate and see if any files have been manipulated, or consider transferring the accounts to a new server with a fresh installation of cPanel.
